The time aound 2007 can be said to be the period where a lot of focus was on establishing the program better. There is an oral history interview with Dr. Andrea Louie details some of the things that happened during this period of time that is available regarding this time.

After establishing the APAS minor, there were still deep challenges related to keeping the program going. One of the consistent challenges of the program that Dr. Louie talks about has been recruiting students. To address this issue, Dr. Louie has been trying to build a curriculum with a lot of flexibility so that students from different majors can fit it in. Another major challenge that the program has consistently faced is funding. The program currently has a larger budget than it did in the past, but this is likely due in large part to anti-Asian hate now being harder to ignore.
